My Father told
“Keep your hands out your pocket,”
It only gives the wrong people reason to bother me,
“Keep your pants up,”
It gives the wrong impression of my good intentions,
“Keep your hood down,”
Because people fear what they don’t know,
“Keep a smile”
Because people shoot what they fear,
“Keep your voice down”
Authorities silence what they don’t want to be heard
“Keep your head on a swivel”
All someone needs is a silencer and no one will have a clue
“Keep your hands where they see”
Reaching for wallet, cell phone, or seat belt could mean your life
“Keep your eyes on the officer”
His reach for holster or club could mean your life
“Keep your head up”
If the world thinks you’re weak, then they’ll eat you
“Keep your eyes to God”
You’ll want him watching you in days like these
